Pro-limited government group to meet

Conventions of States Project, in Washington’s 24th Legislative District, will meet at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St. from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7. The Convention of States Project’s objective is to reestablish limited government, 10th Amendment states’ rights and individual freedom. Eric Minor, Washington state director for the Convention of States Convention, will be the speaker. The public is invited and will have plenty of time to ask questions. PUD cancels meeting

There will be no meeting of the PUD commissioners on Jan. 2. The next regular meeting will be on Monday, Jan. 9.

Jan. 4 college planning seminar scheduled

There will be a college planning seminar from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. Learn how to choose, apply and pay for college at this free seminar.

Chamber accepting nominations

The Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce will begin accepting nominates for its Citizen of the Year award on Jan. 2.

This year’s honor recognizes members of the community who have dedicated “significant time and energy to the community above and beyond the expectations of their job” in 2016, chamber officials said.

Nominations for the awards are made to the chamber by residents of the Sequim Dungeness-Valley area. Deadline for nominations is Jan. 31. The awards will be presented at a Feb. 23 luncheon.

Volunteer Hospice offers support group

Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County is offering an eight-week grief support group series from Jan. 17-March 7.

The group meets from 2-3:30 p.m. each Tuesday at Hospice House, 810 S. Albert Street, directly behind the main office on Eighth Street in Port Angeles.

The program is free and open to the public.

Registration is required as group size is limited.

Kettel’s offers free New Year’s meal

Kettel’s 76, 194 W. Washington St., Sequim, offers a free dinner from noon-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, with free 12-ounce fountain drinks and coffee.

Senior menu set

Sequim Senior Nutrition Site menus are served at 4:30 p.m. at the Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St., on Tuesdays-Fridays.

Suggested donation is $5 (60 and over), $8 guest and a 24-hour advance reservation is needed.

Thursday, Dec. 29: Green salad, boiled egg, tuna casserole, glazed carrots, fresh strawberries, bran muffin
