North Dakota man dies from injuries received in Feb. 2 wreck

A North Dakota man has died from injuries sustained in a two-car wreck on U.S. Highway 101 near Orcas Drive — along Discovery Bay — on Feb. 2, the State Patrol has reported.

Two people were airlifted to a Seattle hospital after the mid-afternoon collision, the State Patrol said.

Brennon M. Beebe, 25, was from Devils Lake, N.D. His passenger, Tristan K. Newman, 27, of Poulsbo, also was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Her condition was not known.

The State Patrol had provided this account in a memo:

Beebe was turning left from Orcas Drive onto southbound Highway 101 just before 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, and pulled in front of Michael D. Thompson, 63, of Port Angeles, who was northbound in a truck pulling a trailer.

Thompson’s truck struck the left side of Beebe’s car, which came to rest in the southbound ditch of Highway 101.

Thompson was not hurt. He was wearing a seat belt, the State Patrol said. Troopers said they did not know if those in the car were wearing theirs, or if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.

The State Patrol cited Beebe for failure to yield.

Beebe’s car was destroyed, the State Patrol said, while the truck suffered reportable damage.
