A semi truck driver was transported to Olympic Medical Center with minor injuries Feb. 6 after his truck rolled east of Sequim.

U.S. Highway 101 was blocked for about 30 minutes Sunday morning between Blyn and Gardiner after a semi truck rolled over.

Trooper Katherine Weatherwax with Washington State Patrol reported that a driver of an Allied moving truck contracted to deliver Amazon packages allegedly fell asleep at the wheel around 4:33 a.m. on Feb. 6 while traveling east near Pierce Road.

The unnamed driver had minor injuries, cuts and bruises and was transported to Olympic Medical Center, Weatherwax reported.

He was charged with second degree negligent driving; no other vehicles were involved in the wreck.

An estimate of damage was not available but the vehicle was totaled, Weatherwax said.

The road closed for about 30 minutes as Evergreen Towing recovered the truck with alternating one-way traffic until the roadway reopened at about 9:53 a.m., she said.
