Baseball: Wolves win first in extra innings

It took extra innings, but Sequim’s winless streak is over.

The Wolves erupted for three runs in the top of the eighth inning to break up a 1-1 tie and earn a 4-1 win over host Granite Falls in a non-league game on April 9.

Ricky Jennings picked up a tough no decision after tossing six strong innings, spreading out seven hits and a walk for Sequim (0-6 in Olympic League play, 1-9 overall).

Zac McCracken earned the win in relief with a scoreless seventh, while Connor Bear earned Sequim’s first save of the season with a three-strikeout, scoreless bottom of the eighth.

Ayden Holland was 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs from the leadoff spot, while Bear was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Jaxson Gray added two singles and drove in a run. Brayden White also had two of Sequim’s 11 hit attack.

Sequim was scheduled to play at Port Angeles on April 11; results were not available at press time. The Wolves are at Bainbridge on April 14 and host Crosspoint Academy in a non-league game on April 15.
