A slow start spelled doom for Sequim’s Wolves on the road against league foe Bremerton last week.

Lizz Lemoureaux had eight first-quarter points on the way to a game-high 18 points as the host Knights knocked off Sequim 47-38 on Jan. 15, sending the Wolves to their third consecutive Olympic League defeat.

Bremerton out-scored Sequim 16-0 in the first quarter, but the Wolves closed the gap to 22-20 by halftime. A 15-9 Bremerton run in the third stretched their lead to eight and Sequim couldn’t complete the comeback.

McKenzie Bentz led a balanced Sequim attack with nine points. Allysen Montelius had eight points, Ella Christiansen had seven and Adrienne Haggerty and Jordan Miller had six points each.

Two days prior, Sequim got off to a fast start in a 56-26, non-league win at Chimacum on Jan. 13.

The Wolves led 11-0 after one quarter and 30-5 at halftime.

Miller led the team with 15 points — including three 3-pointers — while Haggerty had 10 points and Christiansen and Montelius had eight each.

Bailey Castillo led Chimacum with 10 points.
