Girls Tennis: Lady Wolves go 2-1 in week, stake claim to third place in Olympic League

The Lady Wolves (8-3) went 2-1 last week with Sequim’s doubles team continuing to win and keep the team in third place in the Olympic League.

The Lady Wolves (8-3) went 2-1 last week with Sequim’s doubles team continuing to win and keep the team in third place in the Olympic League.

They traveled to play winless North Mason (0-11) on April 19 for a 6-1 win with Stephanie LaCour taking No. 1 singles 6-2, 7-6, 4-6 over Mikaela Michaels, and Karen Chan and Katey Wake winning No. 1 doubles 6-4, 6-3 over Terri Johnson and Astrid Lundberg.

Sequim’s Tea Gauthun won No. 3 singles 6-0 in two sets over Kaylie Green too. No. 2 doubles team Hannah D’Amico and Izzy Hugoniot won 6-1, 6-0 over Calista Navarro and Elmira Morozova while No. 3 team Jessica Craig and Andrea Albaugh won 6-0 in two sets over Nicole Madsen and Peyton Trumel. The Wolves’ Melissa Copeland and Lindsey Carlson also won 6-0, 6-3 over Melina Kirsch and Alison Harlow.

However, Kingston (9-2) got the upper hand on its own courts on April 20 with a 5-2 win. Sequim’s LaCour won the No. 1 singles again with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Mc-kenzie Atkins and Lindsey Carlson won Sequim’s

No. 3 singles 6-3, 6-0 over Tessa Johnson.

Despite the loss, the Wolves came back to win 6-1 in Sequim over Bremerton (6-3).

At No. 2 singles, LaCour won over Emily Nguyen 6-1, 6-2, and Wake won No. 3 over Bailey Aylward 6-1, 6-3.

Doubles teams all won their sets as well.

This week, the girls traveled to North Kitsap (10-0)  on April 26, host Port Angeles (4-8)  on April 28, and travel to Olympic (3-7)  on April 29.
