Klahhane gymnasts qualify for state

The Klahhane Level 4 and 5 gymnastics teams qualified six gymnasts to the Washington Fall Compulsory Meet at the Scarecrow Scramble on Saturday, Nov. 8.

The Klahhane Level 4 and 5 gymnastics teams qualified six gymnasts to the Washington Fall Compulsory Meet at the Scarecrow Scramble on Saturday, Nov. 8.

The Level 5 team, led by qualifiers Anne Edwards and Zoe Smithson, took second in the team competition. Edwards medaled on all four events, taking second on vault and floor exercise, third on balance beam and fourth on uneven bars. She scored second in all-around points with a 32.35 total. Smithson had the highest individual event score, taking first on vault with a 8.9. She also took second on uneven bars, fourth on floor and third in all-around scoring with 32.0 points.

Gracie Sharp was third on uneven bars and fourth in the balance beam and all-around. Emma Sharp placed fifth in the balance beam competition in the 11-12 age group.

Four gymnasts qualified for state in the Level 4 Competition. In the 8-year-old old age group, Susannah Sharp and Jolene Varra had identical scores of 32.45 points. Using the tie breaker of the higher individual event score Sharp received fourth in the all-around with Vaara receiving the fifth place medal.

In the 9-year-old age group, Kori Miller and Morgan Mattix qualified for state competition. Miller finished sixth (33.425 points) and Mattix was eighth (33.025 points).

The Level 4 team finished fourth in the team competition.
