In another lopsided decision in this rivalry, Sequim will have to settle for a moral victory.

The Wolves finished their 2011-2012 campaign with a 48-30 loss at home to rival Port Angeles on Feb. 7.

After a competitive first quarter that saw Port Angeles grab an 11-6 lead, the Roughriders out-scored Sequim 11-0 in the second quarter and rode it to a victory.

Kiah Jones led Port Angeles with 13 points while Paxton Rodocker added eight.

Haleigh Harrison scored 10 points to lead Sequim while Demiree Briones chipped in with six points.

Sequim kept the score reasonable with a 24-point second half. But Sequim coach Stephanie Lewis said she was disappointed with the first-half effort, particularly that scoreless second quarter. The Wolves struggled with full- and half-court traps from Rodocker, Mariah Frazier and Kathryn Moseley.

Harrison ended Sequim’s nine-minute scoreless drought with a basket at the 7:02 mark in the third quarter.

It was the first time since 2007 the Wolves have lost to Port Angeles by less than 20 points.

Sequim hasn’t beaten the rivals from Port Angeles since Jan. 19, 2007, a 62-49 decision. The Roughriders have won the 11 match-ups since.
