Olympic Paddlers to meet, rowing club opens, Babe Ruth sports win big and fishing day set.

Paddlers to meet

Olympic Peninsula Paddlers will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles. This month’s presentation is on paddling the Bowron Lakes in British Columbia The public is invited to attend.

Rowing club opens up

The Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association is inviting homeschooled students to join the club for sessions from 10:30-noon each Monday and Wednesday at the clubhouse on Ediz Hook, 1431 Ediz Hook Road, Port Angeles. Taught by Rodrigo Rodrigues, the sessions are open to youths 11 and older.

Co-op wins big

Clallam Co-op topped Local 155 by a score of 9-1 in Olympic Junior Babe Ruth action on April 30. Co-op took a 3-1 lead with three runs in the third inning and Johnnie Young came in for relief for Co-op in the fourth, pitching the last four innings and preserving the win for starter Jonathon Serrano. The pitchers combined for six strikeouts, giving up just two hits. Local 155’s Seth Scofield and Tait Gahimer combined for eight strikeouts.

Annual Kids Fishing Day set

The Puget Sound Anglers — North Olympic Peninsula Chapter, in coordination with Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and the City of Sequim Public Works Department, present the 13th annual Kids Fishing Day from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at the Water Reclamation pond north of Carrie Blake Park. The event is open to youths 14 and younger. Bring your own pole and bait or borrow a rod from the club stock. Bait also is  supplied by the club. The pond will be stocked with another 1,000 fish the following weeks so children may continue to fish through the summer.
