City council approves to sell $3.3 million in revenue bonds
As tradition, volunteers came out across the peninsula on Sept. 6 to help out their communities for a few hours on the National Day of Service and Remembrance. In Sequim, the City of Sequim and United Way of Clallam County sponsored several events.
In lieu of the Museum & Arts Center’s (MAC) anticipated event, Evening at the Barn, MAC volunteers have shifted gears to plan a MAC Fun Day at the DeWitt Administration Center.
The Clallam County Board of Commissioners will further discuss the county’s regulation in relation to Initiative 502. Department of Community Development Director Sheila Roark Miller has asked the commissioners to decide what legislative action they would like to take and has since created an interim ordinance for the commissioners to review.

Five Acre School founders Juanita Ramsey-Jevne and Bill Jevne create an arch to allow for all the 2014 students enrolled in Five Acre School to pass through during the school’s first day opening ceremony. The 2014 school year marks 20 years in operation for the independent school neighboring the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge. As in the past 19 years, Five Acre School staff welcomed the new school year with the tradition of hand-holding and singing with the students and their parents. But, unlike in past years, they also celebrated the completion of the restoration work done on the school’s outdoor hill on which students for years have played. Lowell Dietz will demonstrate how to cultivate edible mushrooms at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Clallam County Master Gardener Demonstration Garden, 2711 Woodcock Road, Sequim. Gardeners will learn how to make mushroom growing kits using pasteurized straw and grain spawn.
