Reach Row events set for September

Funding respite care for the families of terminally ill Clallam County residents has been Sequim Bay Yacht Club’s goal for more than 30 years, and this year the club expects its all-time total of contributions to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County (VHOCC) to surpass $500,000.

Racers and paddlers from both Clallam and Jefferson counties have started to register for the 5k rowing and paddling race scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 16. Anyone high school age and older from anywhere is eligible to launch a rowing shell, canoe, kayak, rowboat, inflatable, paddleboard — anything human-powered — from Mud Bay at John Wayne Marina. Registration fees — $25 per person for those pre-registering at webscorer.com, with discounts for yacht club members — all go directly to VHOCC and may be tax-deductible.

Sailors race on Saturday, Sept. 23, with registration on-site that morning. Registration is by donation, with $50 per sailor the minimum.
