Save the date

The Sequim Education Foundation (SEF) asks the community to save the date for its second annual fundraiser, to be held on the evening of Oct. 11.

It’s first fundraiser, “Hopes & Dreams”, which took place last October at the Guy Cole Center at Carrie Blake Park to support the Foundations teaching grant program, raised more than $30,000 thanks to donors, attendees and volunteers that included adults and students.

The Foundation’s teaching grant program provides Sequim School District teachers with funding to support additional learning opportunities for district students beyond what the schools are able to provide through state funding. SEF works closely with school administrators to eliminate overlap and ensure the need for the grants.

Teaching grants fund opportunities that touch many students and are often able to be used for consecutive years. Since 2001, the program has funded more than $340,000 in teaching grants for the school district. SEF’s goal is to build an endowment for teaching grants that provides funding stability.

More details about this year’s fundraiser will be provided on SEF’s website (sequimeducationfoundation.org) as the event date gets closer.
