Anglers to meet
The Puget Sound Anglers-North Olympic Peninsula Chapter host a public general meeting on Wednesday, July 20, at the Sequim Elks Lodge, 143 Port Williams Road. People start gathering at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7 p.m.
This month’s speaker is member Ken Townsend, talking about how to make one’s own spinners for salmon, trout and steelhead fishing. He will cover tools, techniques, how to get started and where to find supplies.
The group will also have a short business meeting, fishing reports and raffle drawings following his talk (raffles are for members only). Visitors can join that night to participate; annual membership is $25 and includes The Reel News monthly publication.
All Grange Dessert Auction set for Saturday
The Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road, hosts the second-annual All Grange Dessert Auction on Saturday July 23.
This is a unique event that was created last year during the pandemic to help raise money for six struggling granges in the county.
The public will have chances to bid on all different types of homemade desserts, from pies to cakes and anything else that can be created in the kitchen.
The public is welcome to donate their own homemade desserts; bring your dessert items to the grange between 10 a.m.-noon. Bidding begins at 1 p.m. and will be open until all desserts are gone.
Last year’s auction raised several thousands of dollars that was divided among the six granges, but more is needed to help keep the bills paid, event organizers say.
