Boys basketball: Olympic romps at Sequim

Wolves to host rival Port Angeles on Friday, seek to end slide in league contests

Olympic’s Trojans, coming off a big overtime win against North Kitsap, wasn’t about to let an upset-minded Sequim squad spoil their dreams of an Olympic League title.

Olympic topped Sequim 58-33 in Sequim on Jan. 22.

The Trojans led 31-10 at halftime.

Olympic held Sequim to just 9-of-41 (22 percent) shooting from the field, including 0-for-13 from 3-point range.

Jaden Mosely led Olympic with 20 points, sinking four 3-pointers.

Jackson Oliver led Sequim with 11 points, four rebounds and two blocks.

The defeat was Sequim’s sixth consecutive league loss, dating back to the Wolves’ 69-65 home win versus North Mason on Jan 5.

 

KO’d at Kingston

The host Buccaneers raced to a seven-point lead after one quarter and made it hold up in a 64-45 win against the Wolves on Jan. 19.

Gavin Veilleux hit four 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 22 points for the Bucs, who were 8-of-17 from long range.

Jackson Oliver led Sequim with 15 points and Nick Faunce added 12, but Sequim struggled from the field, shooting just 14-of-43 (33 percent).

Payton Glasser led Sequim with seven rebounds.

 

Looking ahead

Sequim was slated to play at North Mason on Jan. 26. The Wolves host Port Angeles on Jan. 29 and finish the regular season Feb. 2 at North Kitsap.
