Storm King open house, Sea Hawkers meet, hoops team seeks player, more

Storm King open house is  set for Saturday

Storm King Soccer Club will host an open house from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at Agnew Fields.

Storm King is open to players ages 9-18. Initial team tryouts will be held May 18-19. The open house is an opportunity to meet coaches and current players and to learn more about Storm King.

All are encouraged to bring useable outgrown shoes and shinguards as well as outgrown Storm King jerseys and clothing for a gear exchange.

Lunch is provided and event organizers say a scrimmage and fun soccer activities also are on the open house agenda. For more information, see www.stormkingsoccer.com.

Sea Hawkers meet in May

The next Olympic Peninsula Sea Hawkers meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, at Gordy’s Pizza & Pasta, 1123 E. First St. On May 10, Sea Hawkers will be participating in the Irrigation Festival Parade. On May 24, the annual Sea Hawkers Banquet is at the Bellevue Hilton. Hoops team seeks player

The Olympic Avalanche, a club basketball team for fifth-grade girls, is seeking one more player to fill out its roster. The Avalanche has compiled a 35-5 record in its first season, with five first-place finishes and seven finals appearances in 10 tournaments. The team is slated to play two more tournaments this season.

Lewis gets ace No. 6

Steve Lewis of Sequim sank his sixth lifetime ace last week at The Cedars at Dungeness. Lewis used a 9-iron to drive the 114-yard hole No. 8. Karl Dryfhout, Ron Fye and Dave Hume, all of Sequim, witnessed the feat.

Golf tourney helps hospice

On Thursday, May 15, The Cedars at Dungeness’ Lady Niners group hosts a nine-hole, four-person scramble and raffle to raise money for Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County. The tourney is in appreciation of all the support and assistance the group has provided local golfers and families, event organizers said.

All lady golfers of Clallam County are invited for the 11 a.m. shotgun start.

Cost is $35, or $45 with a cart. Fee includes a light lunch. For more information, call 808-3440.

Church hosts golf tourney  for fundriaser

The King’s Way Foursquare Church hosts a charity golf tournament at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, at The Cedars at Dungeness, 1965 Woodcock Road.

Check-in is at 11:30 a.m. and tee-off time is 12:30 p.m. Entry fee is $75 per player and includes cary, range balls, T-shirt and wards. Deadline to register is May 6.
