Wolves of the Week

Wolf of the Week is a partnership between Sequim High School and Castell Insurance to recognize local prep student-athletes and help raise funds for the SHS athletic department.

Here are the Wolves of the week for the first half of the fall season:

Week: Sept. 4-9

Class: Senior

Team: SHS football

Head coach: Erik Wiker

Reason for selection: “Lars leads on and off the field. He had 267 yards passing and 42 yards rushing versus Forks, and participated in most off season practices and events.”

Reason for selection: “Zach was most improved the past week, an Aspen PR’ed (earned a personal record) by 40 seconds.”

Week: Sept. 18-23

Classes: Both seniors

Teams: Girls Soccer (Johnson), Boys Tennis (Little)

Head coach: Ken Garling (soccer), Mark Textor (tennis)

Reason for selection: “[Taryn] is a leader on the field and is a great teammate. She is always positive and encourages her teammates to do their best. [Garrett] works hard during practice and puts in a lot of extra work outside of practice to make himself better.”

Violet Phillips

Week: Sept. 25-30

Class: sophomore

Head coaches: Cherise Feser, Sarah Thorson

Reason for selection: “She has a great attitude at every practice, is coachable and thoughtful about becoming a better swimmer, and her times improve every meet. She also encourages and supports other swimmers.”
