PHOTOS: Egg hunts, on ice

Dustin Scott, 2, collected numerous eggs before being carried home by his father, who said, “We’re in the snow in Easter!” expressing the surprise many felt at the sudden hail, snow and thunderstorm that descended on Sequim briefly. Scott and others enjoyed KSQM 91.5 FM and The Pumpkin Patch’s Easter egg hunt despite weather that created a smaller than expected turnout.

More than 160 youths turn out to find some of the more than 2,000 eggs at the Sequim Elks Lodge’s Easter Egg Hut on April 16. Attendees in each age group (0-1, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-11) were on the hunt in particular for two golden eggs that earned special prizes. A number of local businesses helped sponsor the event, organizers noted, including Blake Sand & Gravel, QFC, Les Schwab, Clallam Co-Op Farm & Garden, Safeway, Costco and Hardy’s Market.
