Golf tourney to benefit SHS seniors

The 2011 Golfing for Sequim High School Seniors tournament is slated for Saturday, April 9, at The Cedars at Dungeness golf course.

Check-in is at 7:30 a.m. and the tourney begins with shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m.

Cost is $60 per person or $120 per team. Fee includes 18 holes of play, lunch, awards and prizes. Other tourney features are $5 mulligans, $1 long putt contest, $10-per-person honey pot, all optional.

April hoops tourney slated

The Port Angeles Recreation Department is hosting the April Fools’ Extravaganza Tournament, April 2-3, with divisions for boys and girls basketball teams in grades 5-12. There is a four-game guarantee and a $235 entry fee.

Junior soccer, coaching camps on tap

The Sequim Junior Soccer Club is  teaming up with UK Elite Soccer to provide players and coaches with fun educational and development opportunities.

Soccer camps for youths ages 3-14 are slated for August. Register by April 17 to receive an Under Armour replica shirt included with the registration fee.

The soccer club and UK Elite also host a free coaching clinic from 2-3:30 p.m. April 9, at the green fields off Hendrickson Road. The camp is to learn new drills and other coaching tools. RSVP to Ken Garling by e-mail at kengar1@hotmail.com.

 

TNT fastpitch hosts fundraisers

The TNT U-16 travel softball squads host a pair of fundraising events this spring.

The teams are raffling seven meals (for two each) at seven different restaurants throughout Sequim. Raffle tickets are one for $5 or five tickets for $20.

From 8-10 a.m. Saturday, April 2, the squads team up with Applebee’s, 130 River Road, Sequim, for a flapjack fundraiser. The breakfast includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, milk, juice and coffee for $10.

Tickets can be purchased before the event from any TNT U-16 team member, by calling Karen Lewis at 460-0380 or at the door.

Money raised goes to purchase uniforms and pay tournament fees.
