Great Decisions June meeting

Sequim city councilors agreed on May 26 to continue the process of seeking the annexation of the Flaura’s Acres development. Following annexation procedures, the homeowners association south of East Washington Street could be annexed by late July or early August through an ordinance at a city council meeting. It’s part of an effort to help homeowners connect to city utilities as their water and sewer lines are failing.

A new effort through Sequim Education Foundation and Sequim High School students called the Student Community Partnership Initiative has set a $20,000 matching grant to support students and families through St. Vincent de Paul. Donors can provide funds to the Sequim nonprofit through June 30 by mail to “St. Vincent de Paul, P.O. Box 2114, Sequim, WA 98382.” <ins>Some of those involved in the effort, include, from left Executive Director Lauren Denton with Sequim Education Foundation, SHS junior Olive Bridge, SHS freshman Kendall Adolphe, SHS senior Laila Sundin, Ed Koszykowski with St. Vincent de Paul, SHS senior John Pehrson, and Mike Flynn with St. Vincent de Paul. </ins>

Leaders with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) and the City of Sequim said the entities are planning to bring city water services to PNNL-Sequim on West Sequim Bay Road to support a modernization effort at the campus along with future development of a “Bench to Bay Deployment and Applied Sciences Laboratory.”
