Sequim School District’s leaders anticipate Sequim Middle School being retrofitted with a new safety and security system this summer funded with monies approved through the district’s $146 million, 20-year construction bond approved by voters in February 2025. A bidding process for the project will tentatively go out in the next month so the project can be done this summer, staff said.

Sequim city councilors agreed on May 26 to continue the process of seeking the annexation of the Flaura’s Acres development. Following annexation procedures, the homeowners association south of East Washington Street could be annexed by late July or early August through an ordinance at a city council meeting. It’s part of an effort to help homeowners connect to city utilities as their water and sewer lines are failing.
